Dementia 5 collapse, TPS in shambles

TORONTO - The unexpected collapse of the Toronto Poetry Slam' Dementia 5 series signals another new round of dark era for the Toronto free speech movement. The groundbreaking genre of performance art has been dismantled in the wake of allegations that suburban folkish and the white styled attending the event were distracting from the groups' original creative foundation - the isolation of mankind and the creative artists sent to teach and instruct nonpoets.

Performance poetry, the application of technology, diction and not always good grace has its detractors. Patrons have long been troubled by the lyrics much as city planners have been troubled by the works of the graph artists."

LETTERS - Azeriel Muhammad writes: "Is the TPS totally corrupt for ending their most successful series? If this is a show of support for embittered Hollywood writers' here in Canada than group needs to get priorities straight. This is not Iran, Israel or West Van, if Free Speech Tuesday shifts to Tinto, what happens to East enders who must trek the 10 or so kilometres to a dingy quebecois-styled 'cafe' to offer their 'praise for her majesty'? I'm less raged than disgusted by this decision not to ask supporters, nor to include volunteer suggestion at the cancellation of this important series. AM, York."
